Wiffle-ballers tournament raises money for Veterans? Memorial

The Lake Orion Wiffleball Association (L.O.W.A.) recently hosted the fifth Annual L.O.W.A. Wiffleball Tournament, raising $3,000 for the Orion Veterans Memorial.
The tournament was made up of a group of 24 players, mostly high school and college friends. They get together every year to compete in an annual wiffleball tournament. This year they even had six guys from out of state come for the tournament.
They also host a Draft Night Charity Dinner the night before the tournament to select teams and help raise money. Last year they raised $1,100 and had a brick installed in the commemorative walkway at the memorial. This year’s tournament saw the team of Jim VandenBoom (Tournament MVP), Trey Skalnek, Steve Cullen, and Kevin Clayton hoist the championship trophy.
‘Last year, we were able to raise $1,100 for the Memorial, so to be able to donate $3,000 this year feels great,? said participant Rick VandenBoom.
‘It’s always a lot of fun to see everyone and play wiffleball, but it is even better to get together for such a great cause,? said Lake Orion resident Nate Johanson. ‘It’s easy sometimes to forget about the sacrifices our veterans have made while you are busy with everything going on in your life, but we hope this donation will help in preserving all they have done for our country.?
The Lake Orion Wiffleball Association wants to says thank you to local businesses for their generous donations and helping make this years tournament a great success.
