Oxford Community Schools Athletic Department announced today it’s partnership with Ticket Leap, an internet-based ticket broker for selected athletic events beginning this fall.
Oxford athletic schedules can be found online at www.highschoolsports.net. For all varsity football games and other selected athletic events, fans can click on a ‘buy tickets? link and purchase tickets with a major credit card with guaranteed security measures. For each ticket purchased, a $1 convenience fee will be charged to the purchaser. However, patrons can then print tickets with names of the individual ticket holders and enter the contest through a pass gate, thus avoiding long lines at the ticket window.
In addition, Ticket Leap has also named Oxford High School as a ‘pilot school? for the company’s ‘Ticket Leap Anywhere? program. In exchange for providing data on usage and functionality to Ticket Leap, the company will provide Oxford Athletics with free equipment such as laptops, cellular air cards and ticket scanners that will allow fans to pay for admission with the traditional cash or check, but also with credit cards through a secure transaction process.
‘Ticket Leap is closely associated with Schedule Star, a nationally recognized vendor that provides solutions for our scheduling needs,? said Mike Watson, director of athletics at Oxford Schools. ‘Over the past year, I’ve partnered with the company successfully for large and small events, so I have an idea of how the system can work.?
Watson also added that online ticket sales doesn’t only save the patron time standing in the ticket line, it helps the athletic department too.
‘Instead of excessive cash handling and the potential for errors from overwhelmed ticket sellers, online selling allows fans to get in quickly and easily,? he said. ‘The new pilot program will allow us to eventually accept credit and debit cards at the gate and receive a check in the mail the next week.?
‘The program will be free to our school and the equipment, worth thousands of dollars, will be ours to keep after the year-long pilot program,? Watson remarked. ‘This system will allow us to incorporate technology into our program to make everyone’s lives easier.?
