The Lady Wildcats got back to their winning ways on the court after beating Birmingham Groves 64-30 at home Jan. 30.
‘It was terrific win for us to get back on track.? The keys to the win were our consistency offensively, rebounding and our defensive intensity,? said Head Coach Steve Emert. ‘We still need to improve upon our communication on the floor.?
The Wildcats outscored Groves in three quarters by crisply passing the ball on offense and playing hard-nose defense.
Jessica Murphy led the Wildcats with 28 points and 8 rebounds, but the team had a diverse scoring effort with eight players putting points on the board. Skye Donaldson contributed 8 points, and Cherilyn Banas contributed 6 points, 6 assists and 7 steals in the winning effort.’Groves was led by senior Brianna Rowe with 13 points and junior Hannah Balicki contributed 10.
With a current record of 9-5 overall and 4-5 in the league, wins against Rochester and Rochester Adams this week are crucial.
‘Consistent (offense), rebounding and defensive intensity will be instrumental in how we perform against Rochester and Rochester Adams,? Emert said. ‘Both of the games are extremely important in the outcomes of the standings in the White Division of the OAA.?
