For the fifth year in a row, the LOHS Marching Band finished in the top 10 Flight I bands in the state of Michigan.
This qualified the band to compete in the MCBA Finals recently held at the Pontiac Silverdome. The band finished with a score of 77.60, its highest score ever. Band members surpassed their previous high score by over two points
The band practiced over 250 plus hours this season to reach the respected level they have achieved.
Not only is the LOHS Marching Band respected in the state of Michigan, but now has been recognized nationally. The band has been invited to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC on May 29.
Special fundraisers have been scheduled to help raise money for the trip.
On Nov. 19, a Pancake Breakfast and Spaghetti Dinner/Silent Auction will take place at the Gingellville Center at 1801 Waldon Road. The breakfast will take place from 8-11 a.m. and the Dinner/Auction will be from 4-8 p.m..
Also, on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., holiday family portraits can be taken at the Always Christmas Store in Canterbury Village. You can purchase 1 (8×10) or 2 (5×7) for $18.00 with all proceeds going towards the trip.
