Gregory James Williams, 46, of Oxford, was arrested and arraigned on the felony charge of embezzlement over $1,000, but less than $20,000. He allegedly stole $3,817 from a youth baseball team.
Oxford Township has allocated $380,000 for the construction of safety paths along the north side of W. Drahner Road between M-24 and Christ the King Church.
Oxford Township officials agreed to pay $15,000 toward the engineering of a safety path on Ray Road, between M-24 and Oxford High School, but made it very clear, if the school district wants a path there, it will have to pay to construct it.
Oxford Township officials voted to allow the 12 full–time firefighters to vote on whether or not they wish to unionize.

Oxford Village Councilman Mike Hamilton was arrested July 18 on the misdemeanor charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and having an open container of intoxicants in the vehicle. A preliminary breath test indicated his blood alcohol content was 0.194 ? more than double the state legal limit of 0.08.
Superintendent Dr. William Skilling is not pleased with Oxford High School’s average composite score on the American College Test. The 20 out of 36 is ‘not acceptable? to him. He said it should be at least 21 or 22.

Steve Stoll, owner of the Orion-based Hi-Hill Lawn Service, has a purchase agreement to buy the former James Lumber property on E. Burdick St. He wants to use the building to sell power equipment and limited quantities of landscape materials while housing his lawn service business.

A liquidation sale is planned for Grove’s True Value Hardware in Oxford. The store was placed in receivership after the Grove family failed to make payments on the $2.246 million plus interest and fees it owed the bank.

Thousands of DVDs, which federal authorities claim are counterfeit, were seized when agents raised PC Treasures, Inc. at 1795 N. Lapeer Rd. The company’s owners said the DVDs are not counterfeit. They claim the discs were seized because they contained a tiny trademarked logo that shouldn’t be there.

Oxford Village is applying for a federal grant to lower cemetery hill on W. Burdick St., install curb and gutter and resolve drainage issues. The estimated cost of the project is $549,464, of which the grant could cover up to 80 percent.
Ex-Oxford Village Councilman Mike Hamilton was sentenced in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court after pleading guilty to drunken driving in October. He was placed on probation for 12 months; ordered to pay fines and costs totalling $997; ordered to complete 75 hours of community service; and required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings twice a week.
A water reliability study conducted for the Village of Oxford recommended $3.31 million in repairs, upgrades and additions to the municipal water system. The study also recommended the village investigate where the missing 28-32 percent (or approximately 60 million gallons) of its water is going every year.
Oxford Community Television has changed channels. The cable access programming can now by seen on channels 97 and 991 instead of Channel 19.

A committee has been established to raise private funds to install synthetic turf at the OHS football stadium. They’re thinking of putting in blue turf, instead of the traditional green.
Despite decreasing property tax revenues, the Oxford Village Council agreed to keep its number of full-time police officers at four at least through the 2009-10 fiscal year, which ends June 30.

Oxford Township officials have agreed to pay 65 percent to fix the road and drainage issues in the Elk View subdivision. The Road Commission for Oakland County have agreed to accept the roads as public so the township can legally expend the monies for the fix.
