The Young Americans made a lasting impact on Lake Orion on Saturday The non-profit group came to the community to provide music education and performance opportunities for young people in the area. The touring group comes to Lake Orion about every three years and has been coming here for about 10 years.
The visit consisted of a three-day workshop that includes after-school classes and workshops followed by a grand finale performance of the participants working with the traveling Young American performers.
The high-energy performances left the participants and those in the audience at the CERC building thrilled and in awe of the level of talent.
Lori McGraw was honored with a gold record from Kristie Wilhelm, of Young Americans, for her efforts to bring the troupe to Lake Orion. McGraw is a program assistant for community enrichment at Lake Orion Schools.
