Young Lake Orion girls win county bowling championship

No seniors? No problem for Lake Orion’s girls? bowling team.
The young lady Dragons captured the Oakland County Girls Bowling Tournament last weekend, making it the second time in four years.
The ladies won the event over 26 other high school teams at Thunderbird Lanes in Troy. They beat White Lake Lakeland, 385-335 in the finals. They were the fourth seed coming out of qualifying matches. They then went on to defeat defending champion Holly, 334-203, Oxford, 375 to 335, and Farmington Hills Harrison in the semis, 370-355.
‘We don’t have seniors in our (starting) lineup,? said coach Denny O’Neill. ‘We have some good young players and our future looks good.?
In the finals match, Lake Orion held a 180-173 advantage after the first games. In the second games, the Dragons poured it on, 205-162, to win going away.
The Dragons showed consistency from the top to the bottom of its team to win. They also are undefeated this season at 4-0 in dual matches.
Tyrna Gladstone’s 235 was the best game of the tournament for Lake Orion. She also had the highest series at 586. Hannah Mix rolled a 547 series.
Team members are: sophomores Alexis Babicz, Madeline Marcetti, Hannah Mix, Savana Rolle and Autumn Sink. Juniors are Tyrna Gladstone and Angela Kemter. Freshman Rachel Kane and senior Nerak Gezycki round out the remainder of the team.
