A 16-year-old Independence Township boy on April 9 told Oakland County Sheriff deputies that he and a friend broke into several storage sheds on Mann Road. He also led deputies to where they stashed the stolen items.
Reports said the youth’s mother brought him into the Independence Township substation after hearing that her son was involved in the break-ins.
The boy told deputies he and his friend were storing the items in a location off I-75 near Clintonville Road, hoping to sell them later.
Recovered items included a hedge trimmer, a stereo, golf clubs, a bug zapper, plastic gasoline cans, a power drill, propane tanks, a handsaw and several wrenches, reports said.
Deputies were not immediately able to contact the second suspect, and the case has been turned over to detectives.
