If the performance by the freshmen and sophomores on the Brandon girls track team May 14 is any indication, the future is bright for the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks won the Fenton 9th/10th Grade Invitational that day, compiling 131 points to outdistance second-place Hartland.
Brandon earned six first-place finishes at the invitational. Savannah Stedman won two of those events, taking the discus (103?9-1/2?) and the high jump (5?).
Erin Connell won the long jump (14?5?), while Allie Sowa won the 300 hurdles (53.9) and Angie Brooks took the 200 meter dash (27.9).
In addition, the 800 meter relay team of Brooks, Danielle Westphal, Alanna Hendrickson, and Jamila Richardson won in 1:54.3, while the 400 meter relay team of Brooks, Westphal, Hendrickson, and Kayla Vaughn took second place with a time of 54.9.
