Ortonville Cemetery adds columbarium

Groveland Twp. — Earlier this summer the Ortonville Cemetery Association added a new columbarium bookcase style niche, a structure that holds cremated remains of the deceased. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, the original octagon style columbarium located on the south side of the cemetery installed about 30 years ago is nearing capacity. Each niche in the columbarium is available for loved ones.
Currently, the Ortonville Cemetery, established in 1867 and reorganized for perpetual care in 1931, occupies 26 acres of which 16 acres are developed. The Cemetery Association is in the process of creating a master plan critical for future development and fundraising.
The OCA is in need of trustees. For additional information contact Sandra Miller, president 248-563-0419.
