More than 4,000 Oxford students in grades K-12 went back to school Tuesday as parents all over the 96-square-mile district rejoiced.
For the staff and students at Clear Lake Elementary, the first day of school this year was quite the milestone.
The elementary school located on W. Drahner Rd. is celebrating its 50th birthday.
To commemorate this historic event, members of the Clear Lake PTO welcomed parents and kids back with pieces of yummy cake.
Later in the day, students assembled in the cafeteria to sing ‘Happy Birthday? to their half-century-old school.
‘We kept it kind of low-key,? said Principal Sue Hannant.
