Loss to Corunna kicks off swim season

The Oxford High School swim and dive team began their season August 26 with a loss to Corunna.
Overall, Oxford earned 77 points to Corunna’s 108.
Results in the meet were:
200-Yard Medley Relay: Second place with the OHS team of Jenna Mallard, Ellen Saville, Allison Woonton and Anna Daves; Third place with the OHS team of: Caroline Kerbelis, Emily Gilmore, Claire Patrell, and Rikki Jarvis.
200-Yard Freestyle: Mallard, first place; Sarah Skelton, third place.
200-Yard Individual Medley: Woonton, first place; Caroline Kerbelis, fourth place.
50-Yard Freestyle: Daves, second place; Jarvis, fourth place and Brittany Dietrich, fifth place.
After the 50-yard freestyle, the overall score was Corunna with 31 points to Oxford’s 30.
From there, Corunna started to dominate.
Girls 1-Meter Diving: Olivia Martin, third place; Molly Bonfiglio, fourth place; Lindsay Sutherland, fifth place.
100-Yard Butterfly: Claire Patrell, second place; Kerbelis, fourth place.
100-Yard Freestyle: Daves, third place; Ellen Saville, fourth place.
500-Yard Freestyle: Skelton, third place; Kaitlyn Kimmel, fifth place.
200-Yard Freestyle Relay: the team of Mallard, Saville, Jarvis, and Daves finished in second place.
100-Yard Backstroke: Woonton, first place; Jennie Sunman, fourth place.
100-Yard Breaststroke: Mallard, second place; Saville, third place and Gilmore, fifth place.
400-Yard Freestyle Relay: the team of Patrell, Skelton, Gilmore and Woonton finished second while the team of Kimmel, Kristin Simmers, Kerbelis, and Dietrich finished third.
