Church play tells old story in a new way

Leave it to Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ in Oxford to put a new twist on a very old tale.
Instead of the traditional Sunday service, members of the church gathered to break bread and watch members of their youth group put on a Christmas play.
Set at the Bethlehem Inn about 2,000 years ago, the play, directed by Oxford High School senior Spencer MacLeod, told the story of Jesus? birth through the eyes of the innkeeper and her wacky staff.
The play was a nice mix of the biblical story and modern comedy.
In an unusual twist, at the end of the play the audience was invited to meet Joseph and Mary and personally congratulate them on their new arrival. ? Editor C.J. Carnacchio
