Dragon icers returned from the holiday break picking up from where they left off by earning two victory’s in week the first week of the new year.
Saturday night saw the Dragon’s ruin Stoney Creek’s Senior night 3-2, with many Lake Orion students attending and cheering on the team.
The coaches decided to insert the three seniors in the starting line up, and they did not disappoint as Corey Hodge assisted on Shane Pettit’s go ahead and game winning goal midway through the third period. Senior Ryan Liddicoat was strong on defense all night thwarting the opposition at every turn. The other goals were scored by Nick Balavich and Brad Bogus. Shawn Horton played a strong game in goal, turning away 23 shots.
Last Thursday night saw the Dragons beat Lakeland Hawks 5-4. After a slow start, they roared back from a 3-2 deficit entering the third period to score three straight goals to take commanding 5-3 lead before the Hawks scored their final tally with only 23 seconds left in the game.
The Dragon’s have a big week of action, as they host Birmingham United (Seaholm and Groves) Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. and crosstown rival Clarkston Jan. 16 at 6:00 p.m.
Dragon won four of their last five contests.
