When digging out from under this week’s snow storm, Road Commission for Oakland County has a reminder: it’s illegal to shovel or plow snow or ice into the road.
Pushing snow from a driveway or parking lot onto a road, as well as piling snow up on the shoulder blocking drivers? ‘safety vision,? is prohibited by state law. It’s a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $100 and/or jail of up to 90 days.
More than 13 inches of snow was forecast for Wednesday, Feb. 2. County plows spent Tuesday salting roads in preparation for the storm, scheduling drivers so they would be on hand by midnight, when the heaviest snow was expected to start.
The county promised its full fleet of more than 80 trucks to clear roads during the storm.
