Whether they were on two or four legs, walkers, joggers, bikers, and even hula hoopers gathered in Depot Park on Sunday to raise money for SCAMP, Clarkston’s camp for special-needs kids.
SCAMP’s Walk and Roll is their oldest fundraiser. Director Donna Clancy said it takes about $450,000 to make SCAMP happen, and the Walk and Roll event raises about $25,000-35,000 of that total. It looked like SCAMP was well on the way to reaching their goal.
Clarkston’s streets were swarmed with the bright yellow T-shirts of SCAMPers, and children dressed as bees buzzed among the yellow and black balloons lining the walkways of Depot Park.
Participants entered prize drawings and received free hotdogs for walking various 1-5 mile routes around Clarkston in support of SCAMP.
