Christmas growing at Wojo’s

Three times the Christmas.
Wojo’s Greenhouse, 2570 Oakwood Road, Ortonville has expanded their Christmas retail store to now include more classroom space along with a large display of holiday greenery in the main area of the facility.
‘We have approximately three time the space for Christmas items this year,? said Lisa Kemeny, Wojo’s Greenhouse general manager.
From classrooms to create Christmas centerpieces, winter glasses, wreaths and memorial blankets, Wojo’s Greenhouse is providing a great way to keep the holiday season local.
‘Starting in July we grow all our own poinsettias right here,? she said. ‘The young plants take about six months to mature and with a little care continue to be a beautiful addition to the holiday season.?
Wojo’s is just one of many groups across the state who are banding together and making the case for a Real Michigan Christmas. The Michigan Christmas Tree Association, Michigan Floriculture Growers Council and Michigan Floral Association, in cooperation with Michigan State University Department of Horticulture, AgBioResearch, have been awarded a $75,000 USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant to help promote and increase opportunities for specialty crop producers like Wojo’s
‘Support the local economy and Michigan grown products right here at Wojo’s,? she said.
