The Lake Orion DDA plans on holding a holiday shopping event on Dec. 8 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The group was requesting permission to use the Village streets for horse drawn carriage rides through the Village. They also wanted permission to use the sidewalks for entertainers who would sing on sidewalks or in businesses in the downtown area. Ice sculpture carving will also be done between 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The DDA will work with police to determine the safest route for the horse drawn carriages.
The action at the Village Council Meeting on Nov. 26 was to approve the use of the public property or deny it. In a vote of 5-0 (2 absent) the proposition was passed as part of the consent agenda.
