Twp. okays streetlights to enhance traffic safety

The Oxford Township Board said, ‘Let there be light!? ? and the light was good.
Township officials last week voted 7-0 to have streetlights installed where M-24 intersects with Market St. and Ray Rd.
Projected to cost $1,428, the lights are designed to increase both pedestrian and vehicular safety at these intersections.
Traffic crash data, provided by the Auburn Hills-based Traffic Improvement Association, indicates the intersections have a high rate of incidence. They’re among the top 10 on the list covering crashes during the 2009-11 period.
M-24 and Ray Rd. is second on the list with 33 accidents, while M-24 and Market St. is sixth on the list with 16 crashes.
Supervisor Bill Dunn noted the intersection with the most crashes is still M-24 and E. Drahner Rd. It had 114 over the three-year period.
