Stacy Darrow

Stacy Darrow of Ortonville has earned a post baccalaureate degree from the teacher preparation program in elementary education grades from West Governors University.
The online, nonprofit university awarded more than 600 degrees at its semi-annual commencement ceremonies held in Salt Lake City on Jan. 24. More than 80 graduates attended the event in person while approximately 350 participated live via the internet.

Nick Falzon

Nick Falzon graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance technology in December from Western Michigan University. He received his airframe and power plan license in January.
Falzon achieved his private pilot license last June and in November was awarded a $5,000 Lawrence Ginnochio scholarship, with which he plans to complete his instrument rating and continue to accumulate flight hours. He also plans to continue his ratings to commercial and certified flight instructor.
The 2004 Brandon High School graduate completed internships at both the Pfizer Air Shuttle and Duncan Aviation in Kalamazoo. His proud family includes parents Jim and Sharon and sister, Jaclyn.

Monica M. Lambert

Monica M. Lambert, of Ortonville, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Northern Michigan University.
To earn a place on the dean’s list at NMU, students must achieve a 3.25 grade point average or higher.

Christa Ann Nedry

Christa Ann Nedry has graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing and advertising, from Central Michigan University. Commencement exercises were held Dec. 13 at the Rose Center at CMU.
The 2004 Brandon High School graduate is now employed by DenteMax of Southfield. She is the daughter of Tom and Carin Nedry of Groveland Township.

Military

Lance Corporal Jordan D. Wingett

Lance Corporal Jordan D. Wingett has been awarded a Meritorious Mast from his commanding officer for outstanding performance of duty while serving as Scout, Scout Sniper Platoon, 1st Battalion 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division during Mojave Viper 2-09. During the deliberate assault course his knowledge and experience in troubleshooting communications gear allowed his section to successfully support operations.
Wingett is currently stationed in Twenty-nine Palms, Calif. and deployed for Iraq
for seven months on Feb. 9.
