Clarkstonites can enjoy a full day of activities on Independence Day, starting with a Main Street parade at 10 a.m.
Hosted by Independence Township Fire Department, this year’s theme is “The History of the American Flag,” said Kelly Hyer, Parts and Recreation. For parade information, call the fire department at 248-625-1924.
Festival of Fun follows at Clintonwood Park, including:
? Arts & Crafts Show, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., with nearly 100 Michigan-based crafters, craft show application inquiries, call Bonnie Murin with Keepsake Collections, 989-781-9165;
? Live entertainment throughout the day, music starts at 9 a.m. with local DJ Jim Tedder, AM 910 Radio Disney D-Tour, 5:30-6:30 p.m., music, games, prizes. Register to win a pair of tickets and meet-and-greet passes to Jonas Brothers concert, 4:30-6:30 p.m.;
? K-9 Toss and Fetch Competition, 1 p.m., junior, novice, and professional competitions for prizes, registration begins at 12 p.m.;
? Children’s Games and Inflatables, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m., on softball fields, bring socks;
? Renee Przybylski Memorial Spraypark, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., $1 donation for all day;
? Demonstrations and Vendor Booths throughout the day, including Clarkston Masons Child ID, Showoff’s Body Art, Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Interactive Display, Clarkston Co-Op Preschool Arts and Crafts center, Pickle Ball demonstration, Team RUSH interactive robot display;
? Food vendors throughout the day, with elephant ears, roasted almonds, lemonade;
? Men’s Slow Pitch Class ‘C? Softball Tournament, beginning at 8 a.m., pre-registration required.
Fireworks show, presented by Parks and Rec and Zambelli Internationale, starts right after dusk. Softball fields offer best views.
