Brandon Twp.-On Dec. 4, Brandon deputies were dispatched to the 3400 block of Kathleen Lake Road for a prowler complaint. The homeowner said he saw a subject looking in the window and found footprints in the fresh snow. The deputies followed them to several windows and then down the driveway and to several homes in the 3600 block of Seymour Lake Road before the tracks went to a driveway of another home where two doors were found open and the home had been ransacked. One deputy continued following the track, while the other cleared the house.
The homeowner arrived and said jewelry, $250 in cash, coins, and collector items were missing. An empty Pepsi can was found in the sink which the homeowner believed the thief must have drunk. The deputy found a white garbage bag in the garage with the items taken in it. The other deputy followed the tracks into the Clarkston Lakes Mobile Home Park and the tracks led to a shed in the 4400 block of Wildwood Loop. A woman came out of the mobile home by the shed and was instructed to go back inside. The tracks led up the steps. She was asked who else was there and she responded just she, her boyfriend and their kids. The boyfriend was asked for his shoes. He gave them wet boots and denied anyone else was there. The woman gave permission for them to search the home. Another man was found behind an open bathroom door and he started yelling, ‘I’m the one, the only one, he had nothing to do with it, I was alone,? in reference to the woman’s boyfriend.
A LEIN check showed several warrants on the suspect and he was arrested for second-degree home invasion. The woman’s boyfriend was arrested on two Friend of the Court warrants and numerous misdemeanor warrants.
