Paintings, photography, jewelry, fabric arts, wood works and more will fill Depot Park for Clarkston’s 36th annual Art in the Village, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19.
This juried show is hosted by the Clarkston Community Historical Society. Admission and parking are free.
Proceeds from Art in the Village fund the Clarkston Heritage Museum in the Independence Township Library, 6495 Clarkston Road, including purchase and restoration of Clarkston artifacts, as well as educational activities throughout the year.
‘Art in the Village is our biggest fund-raising event of the year,” said historical society President Jennifer Arkwright. “We have a fantastic roster of artists and vendors lined up, and we are very happy to involve so many other community organizations in this event.?
In addition to art, the Depot Park event in downtown Clarkston features live music, children’s activities and a variety of foods, including fresh cider and doughnuts, sold by local nonprofit organizations.
A Silent Auction Tent features items donated by artists to the Historical Society. The popular Antique Tent will be filled with antiques and collectibles for sale that have been donated by local residents.
The Historical Society also will sell shirts, bags and the popular Clarkston ceramic Christmas ornaments that buyers scooped up so quickly last year.
CCHS still seeks donations of antiques and collectibles for the Antique Tent. Donors will receive a tax receipt listing the fair market value of donated items.
To donate, bring items to the Clarkston DPW garage on Depot Road near city offices, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. Donors can call the Clarkston Heritage Museum at 248-922-0270 to make alternative arrangements.
