Something’s wrong at Waldon Middle School’s new football field. The grass is spotty and it doesn’t look very healthy.
Because of the poor condition of the grass, no football games will be played at the school this season. The middle school’s team games have been rescheduled at other fields.
Right now, according to Lake Orion School Superintendent Dr. Craig Younkman, experts are trying to figure out what the problem is.
‘We don’t know if it’s the soil, fertilization…,? he added.
According to Dr. Younkman, Kingscott Associates, architect for the remodeling project at the school on Waldon Road, sought help from Michigan State University when specifications for the field were being considered.
Construction project manager, Barton Malow, wrote bid specifications according to MSU requirements, Dr. Younkman said. And what was installed was done according to the specs.
Test samples at the field have been taken and sent back to MSU for evaluation.
‘We’re waiting for the experts before we figure out who’s going to pay for this,? Younkman said. ‘We’re frustrated with it, but we want to get it right.?
