Police are looking for two armed robbers in the Independence Township area.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, two robbers entered the Tim Horton’s restaurant, 5700 block of Maybee Road, at about 9:20 p.m., Dec. 16.
One was carrying a long gun and the other a hand gun. Both were wearing hooded sweatshirts, face masks, goggles, and gloves. The face masks and goggles completely covered their faces. Both suspects were male of unknown race.
The first suspect was wearing a grey Michigan sweatshirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, white gloves, and wearing white framed ski goggles. He is of medium height and weight.
Suspect two, also medium height and weight, was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, dark colored gloves, and dark colored goggles.
No customers were in the restaurant at the time. Two employees were on duty. The store manager, an 18-year-old White Lake Township resident, was at the drive-thru window. When he saw the gunmen, he jumped out of the window and ran to the Wendy’s restaurant next door.
The other employee, a 16-year-old Clarkston resident, was cleaning in the back of the store. She was ordered to get on her knees. She did this and closed her eyes.
The gunmen went into the store office and took money, also from a cash drawer near the drive-thru window. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
The suspects left the restaurant on foot. A K-9 unit responded to the scene and tracked the suspects to a near-by neighborhood before losing the track.
Anyone with information as to the identity of either of the suspects is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crime Stoppers at 888-TURN-1-IN (1-888-887-6146) or the Independence Township Substation, 248-620-4970.
