Brandon Twp. — Down 30 points in the second half Bay City John Glenn Bobcats almost completed the comeback of the century.
On Aug. 27 the Brandon Blackhawks opened the 2024 football season with a wild win 43-40 over Bay City John Glenn on a humid late August night.
“This was a crazy game,” said Head Coach Brad Zube. “We were up 23-0 at halftime to their credit they battled back and took the lead. We scored to go up 43-40 with two minutes left. We held up on 4th and goal and knocked down a pass with no time remaining. Both teams played their hearts out and battled cramping and injuries all night.”
The Brandon offense showed up with 572 total yards with 168 yards in the air and a massive running attack with 384 yards.
BHS Jr. Damian Watton was almost unstoppable with 31 carries for 257 yards on three touchdowns. BHS Quarterback Sr. Lance Briolat had nine carries for 58 yards and three touchdowns. Briolat was solid in the air with 15 passes, 12 completions for 168 yards. BHS Jr. Luke Hanson had two receptions for 71 yards. BHS Jr. Nate Elowsky converted six of seven points after touchdowns.
On defense BHS Jr. Darrin Linenger had 11 tackles and one sack while BHS Jr .Sean Duedek had 7 tackles.
