Boggs lands role in Pajama Game

Lake Orion resident Allison Boggs will play Mabel in The Pajama Game, presented by Spotlight Players.
‘They don’t make ’em like this anymore,? said Spotlight Players of the the musical romantic comedy classic. The play centers around a labor dispute at a pajama factory that pits a union leader against a manager, both of whom get way more than they’re bargaining for.
‘Come see why this show was a hit movie in 1957 and hit Broadway revival in 2006.?
Players Board President Barbara Bloom said about The Pajama Game, ‘It is the fabulous 50’s with its innocence and simpler way of life before computers and lightening fast communication. It is also a time when 7? cents meant a lot in the life of a factory worker – pony tails, pedal pushers and picnics ? enjoy!?
Roy Sexton, playing Syd, said ‘Really anyone should find something to enjoy about the show. The story is very accessible, and is equal parts romance and corporate farce. The show will resonate with people who remember the 1950s manufacturing community, but it will equally resonate for younger audiences. We all struggle to make a paycheck, find love, and be happy – those themes are universal and they are explored in a fun way in this show.?
The original Broadway production opened on May 13, 1954 and ran for 1,063 performances. Doris Day made The Pajama Game a hit movie in 1957.
The play was revived in 1973 and again in 2006 by The Roundabout Theatre Company.
The original production won a Tony for Best Musical, and the 2006 Broadway revival won a Tony award for Best Revival of a Musical and featured Harry Connick, Jr.
The Spotlight Player’s rendition will run April 24, 25, 26* and May 1, 2, 3* 8, 9.
All shows begin at 8 p.m. except for matinees which begin at *2:00pm.
