Bowlers continue to prove their skills

The Wildcat bowling team went to the Bowl Swami Tournament Feb. 1 at Imperial lanes.
‘The varsity boys wanted to prove why they are ranked fifth in the state. The field of 27 teams would be cut to 16 and the Oxford boys qualified 12th. After a slow start, the Cats bowled well in baker to make the cut. The boys then bowled well enough to advance to the final four. The team ended up fourth’in the tournament, not finishing well once the finals started.
The varsity girls had things to be proud of as well. Alyssa Hurlburt shot games of 206,161 and 211 to be named to the All-tournament team. Freshman Megan Kessler had a solid day bowling 526 for 3 games. Hannah Farmer also had a nice game of 212. The girls qualified for the round of 16, but went out in the next round.
Oxford took on the Troy Colts on Jan. 25.
The boys beat Troy 28-2.
A close battle in the baker games took the wind out of the young Troy team. Oxford won Baker game one 189-210 and game two 225-202. Then, the Wildcats took all five matches in game one to secure the match. Bowling well for the Cats were Brady Wynkoop (217), Brandon Hurlburt (200), Kyle Woody (223), Mike Johnson (205) and Mitch Kessler (202).
The Lady Wildcats, on the other hand, fell behind early in baker games. Game one was a tie at 122 and game two was a loss at 122- 147. The improving girls would show great heart coming back in the first head up game winning four out of five matches. The girls would repeat the feat with four of five wins in game two to pull out a come-from-behind victory.
Oxford won with a final score of 20 ? to 9 ?. The Ladies were led by Megan Kessler (203), Hannah Farmer (197) and Alyssa Hurlburt had 183 and 180.
