Bowlers pinned down in league semi-finals

It was a busy weekend for Oxford Wildcat Bowlers. The varsity boys and girls both had OAA League Tournament and advanced to the final-four in the tournament.
‘They bowled well, but lost in the semi-finals. The girls lost to the eventual winners Farmington Harrison and the Boys to whom else, but Clarkston,? said Coach J.R. Lafnear.
Boy’s first team was Brandon Hurlburt and Sean McKinney; Second Team was Brady Wynkoop and Jake Delong and Third Team was Drew Pappas. Girls Second Team was Hannah Farmer and Third team had Alyssa Hurlburt and Megan Kessler.
Earlier in the week the boys and girls varsity showed Troy Athens what their made of.
The Boys needed a win to capture the OAA crown and were determined to get it. After splitting baker games the Wildcats held a 6 to 4 lead. Then the Cats poured it on.
Led in game one by Co Captain Sean McKinney’s 246 game the Oxford team bowled a 1059 to Athens 983. Game one also saw Brady Wynkoop shoot 213, Drew Pappas 211 and Brandon Hurlburt 207. Game two was as exciting as it gets. Brady Wynkoop fired of the first 10 strikes in route to a career high 287 game. Kyle Woody tossed a 205 and Mitch Kessler had an even 200. The Wildcats win the match 22- 8 and an OAA championship.
‘These boys are a special group. They have ability that’s limitless. They work hard and want to do well,? Lafnear said. ‘I’m so happy for them to win a title and to have the success their having. We still have regionals and state goals, but for tonight they are champions.?
‘The varsity girls won 30-0 in their match with Athens. Alyssa Hurlburt led the way with games of 204 and 186. Megan Kessler tossed a fine 189 game as well. The girls finished the OAA league schedule with a 6-4 record.
