Owosso —The Brandon Blackhawks Varsity Football team improved to 4-2 overall in the Flint Metro League road battle, defeating the Owosso Trojans 54-47.
The Blackhawks tallied 626 yards of offense with 301 yards rushing and 325 in the air.
“This was a wild game,” said Head Coach Brad Zube. “Our offense was clicking on all cylinders and our defense forced three turnovers to help us flip some extra possessions our way. Our offensive line was outstanding, we got great quarterback play from Lance Briolat. Luke Hanson, Demetri McNeir and Damian Watton were a three headed monster for us on offense.”
The O-Line stepped up with over 600 yards of offense with Nate McChesney, Jesse Moultroup, Andrew Gromaski, Evan Smith and Gavin Rochester.
The balanced attack included BHS Damian Watton who carried the ball 29 times for 146 yards and four TDs. BHS Danny Protiva carried the ball four times for 28 yards and one TD. The Blackhawks trailed starting the second half 25-20 but rallied in the second half for 34 points taking home the win.
BHS Lance Briolat completed 10 of 18 passes for 209 yards and one TD, while BHS Luke Hanson completed two of two for 92 yards and two TDs. BHS Luke Hanson caught the ball seven times for 168 yards and one TD. BHS Demetri McNeir had three receptions for 96 yards and a pair of TDs.
The Blackhawk defense was tough with BHS Kurt Briolat had 11 Tackles 1 fumble recovery and an interception, BHS Jacob Dubiel eight tackles, BHS Al Rowe seven tackles and Demetri McNeir one interception.
