Bridge work dates changed

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has changed the previously announced start date for work on the replacement of the Seymour Lake Road bridge over the Paint Creek in Oxford Township. It previously was expected to start July 17. The new schedule calls for work to start Aug. 10.
The schedule was changed at the request of the contractor.
Seymour Lake Road will be closed between Granger Road and Coats Road throughout the project. During the closure, the detour route will be Granger to Coats to Seymour Lake and vice versa.
The bridge replacement is necessary because the existing bridge is structurally obsolete.
The project cost is approximately $650,000, of which 95 percent will be paid for through a state Critical Bridge Program grant. RCOC will provide the remaining 5 percent.
The work will be completed by the CA Hull Company Inc., of Walled Lake.
Work is expected to be completed, according to the revised schedule, and the road re-opened, by Nov. 1.
This section of Seymour Lake Road carries approximately 5,500 vehicles per day.
