Children were taught the basics of bugs at Independence Oaks’ Bug-A-Palooza, July 11.
They assembled buggy crafts in Lewis E. Wint Nature Center before heading out into the fields of Independence Oaks county park and caught their own insects. The kids got to look through microscopes, feel what a honeycomb is like, and also examine dozens of species of bugs in cases. They also got the opportunity to create their very own “Bug Suckers.”
Bug Suckers, used to capture insects in a viewing case, are for when one wants to look at a bug, but doesn’t want to touch it.
