Cullen Card, of Oxford, took home the award for Best Original Story in the 2013 Kingsbury Middle School Film Festival held Feb. 25 at the Oxford 7 Theater.
Entitled ‘Hard Decisions,? Card’s short film was about three girls who find some money and have to decide what to do with it.
Card’s film, along with films of other finalists, was screened at the downtown theater.
The short film/video competition was open to all students in the fifth through eighth grades. Entrants submitted films and videos up to two minutes in length based on the theme ‘Integrity.?
A panel of judges, including some from the film industry, viewed each film and rated them based on story, use of theme, technical merit, execution and audience appeal. Feedback was provided to each contestant to help them learn.
