Clarkston Christian School and Oakland Christian School join forces

A new partnership between Clarkston Christian School and Oakland Christian School will only bring mutual benefits to both schools and the Christian community.
The new agreement will make the K-5 CCS a satellite school of OCS, a larger K-12 school located in Auburn Hills.
Located within Clarkston Community Church., CCS was established in 1967 and has an annual enrollment of approximately 35-40 students with an additional 40-45 students as part of the church’s child care program.
OCS was established in 1968 and has an average annual enrollment of 560 students from over 125 different churches. With the addition of CCS to the school’s network, Superintendent Randall Speck expects great results.
‘It’s consistent with both of our missions to grow Christian education throughout southeastern Michigan,? Speck said.
ACT results from OCS already average 3 points higher than the state average, a track record Speck plans on continuing..
Greg Henneman, senior pastor of Clarkston Community Church, said the union will take the current CCS to a new level through deeper resources, better access to extra curricular activities, financial backing, technology and consistent education beyond fifth grade..
Henneman said faith should permeate all aspects of our lives, including education. Christian families should have the opportunity to send their children to an environment where it’s okay to ask how faith relates to the subjects they are learning.
‘As our society becomes more secular there’ll be more Christian families that opt for private Christian education so they can have confidence that their kids, whether they are studying math, science, or English literature, are getting academic excellence and a biblical world view,? Henneman said. ‘That would be very difficult if not impossible to achieve in a public setting.?
Henneman said all denominations of Christianity are welcome, and encouraged, to join the new network to build a strong Christian education across Southeast Mich.
‘It’s interdenominational,? said Henneman, ‘It’s across the board because we believe what unites us is greater than what divides us. All the families are encouraged to keep their distinctives of their particular traditions.?
Speck plans to have CCS accredited within three years. OCS is already accredited by both organizations. Henneman said that in addition to accreditation he hopes to expand CCS in future years.
