Thursday mornings are becoming popular among local business owners. A new business networking opportunity has been started by The Clarkston News and Clarkston411.com group.
‘We’re starting small and trying to build momentum,? publisher Jim Sherman, Jr. said of the Coffee Club.
Business owners from Clarkston are invited to attend the weekly networking group at Clarkston United Methodist Church, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. There is no cost to attend (but donations are excepted for coffee — which is donated to the church).
‘It is casual,? Sherman said. ‘It’s a chance to talk with other business owners about what’s happening in the community, how business is going. It’s a way to help create a sence of community among business people.?
Participants get the opportunity to mingle, exchange business cards and talk what’s new with their businesses.
‘I think it’s a great way to spread the word,? Susan Stencil said. She like the opportunity to get in front of the audience, with her website projected behind her on a big screen. Stencil will open Bikram Yoga Clarkston this June, on Sashabaw Road. Bikram Yoga, she described is a ‘hot? yoga, where temperatures in the room get up to 105 degrees.
She is currently scheduling classes, based on what times locals want. She can be contacted for more information at Susan@bikramyogoclarkston.com.
Susan Lovelace of Canine Massage also enjoyed the Coffee Club.
‘It’s nice to see new businesses coming to town and to have an opportunity to learn from one another as we grow our businesses. It’s a great opportunity to polish your speaking skills.?
Lovelace is a member of the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork. She explained how massage is a benefit to both our mature and young friends. To find out more check out her website, www.CanineMassageMI.com.
Longtime Clarkston resident, Jane Basinger has joined Wellness Company, which touts the benefits of environmentally safe household cleaning supplies, soaps and lotions. New to the business world, she thought the Coffee Club was ‘very informative. I enjoyed seeing other people make their presentations. She can be contacted at jebholly@aol.com.
Mark Kopp, of All Natural Cleaning & Services, LLC, had a ‘great experience? and called it, ‘invaluable.?
Kopp’s business feature earth friendly cleaning services for home, office, or post construction project. Their website is www.gonaturalclean.com.
Commercial photographer turned portrait photographer Mark Kelly explained why he made the switch — a chance to work closer to home with his children, who attend Clarkston schools. Kelly offers ‘ala carte? packaging for weddings, senior portraits and pet pictures. His work can be viewed on his website, www.mpk-photo.com.
Representatives from the Clarkston News unveiled their newest ‘network of sites? which includes Clarkston411.com
‘We are combining a business telephone directory, with on-line TV, radio and newspaper information,? Sherman said. ‘We are building a news and interviewing studio at 5 S. Main.
‘If you own a business in town go to www.clarkston411.com and click on the business directory. Make sure you’re listed. The listing is free, but we want to make sure all the information is correct. If not, call your advertising rep at the Clarkston News so we can get you in.?
