A few dozen residents came out to hear Carl G. Knaus? Saving America Tea Party message, April 17 in Depot Park.
‘About 30-40 hardy souls, braving the freezing wind,? said Knaus, Independence Township resident.
He also had trouble finding a working electrical socket in the park gazebo, but Clarkston Police Chief Dale LaCroix came to the rescue. The chief, who stopped by to check on them, unlocked an electrical box and turned on the juice.
‘That goes above and beyond the call of duty ? I’m so impressed,? Knaus said. ‘You guys (city residents) are lucky here.?
Organizing Tea Parties throughout southeast Michigan, he plans to apply with Clarkston City Council for another Depot Park stop.
‘We’ll come back when it’s not so cold, maybe in June or July,? he said.
The Saving America tour protests recent federal health care, financial, and other initiatives, and calls for a return to capitalist and free market ideals.
