Shirley R. Patterson, the director of The Patterson Center For Counseling and Integrative Wellness in Lake Orion, is presenting a free seminar on hypnosis and hypnotherapy called ‘Hypnosis: Not Just Fun and Games. The Therapeutic Benefits for Mind, Body, and Spirit Wellness.? The seminar will be presented from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, in the lower conference room, at the Orion Office Building, 1520 S. Lapeer Road, Lake Orion.
The free seminar explains how hypnosis has helped millions of people successfully lose weight, stop smoking, reduce stress and anxiety, manage their pain and even improve their sleep. Patterson will explain the latest facts about hypnosis and the myths and misconceptions about hypnosis. The American Medical Association has approved hypnosis since 1958.
Emotional blocks must be resolved, according to Patterson. When emotional blocks are not addressed, these emotions manifest physically. Most people will bury their emotions, hoping they stay buried. Unfortunately, this is not the case. They show up when you least expect them and can wreak havoc in your life.
The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study is a major research study that compares current adult health status to childhood experiences decades earlier. According to the ACE Studies, ‘the time factors in the study make it clear that time does not heal some of the adverse experiences we found so common in the childhoods of a large population of middle-aged, middle-class Americans. One doesn’t ‘just get over? some things.?
The Journal of Clinical Psychology reported that, in a recent study, weight loss subjects who utilized hypnosis as an adjunct to their weight loss programs experienced significantly more weight loss than the subjects who did not use hypnosis. The benefits increased over time.
Hypnosis can help a person lose weight easily and permanently without dieting, said Patterson. Hypnosis allows a person to easily let go of their cravings for sweets, unhealthy snacks or emotional eating patterns. In hypnosis a person’s subconscious mind accepts and creates new healthy patterns and habits.
According to Patterson, people should stop feeling bad or beating themselves up, because the fact is, will power doesn’t work.
Patterson is a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling, Michigan Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association.
Seating is limited, so register for the seminar at www.thepattersoncenter.com or by calling 248-884-7288. Attendees can register for a free Stress Management’Relaxation c.d.
