CORA Rehabilition Clinic, for physical therapy

No matter what the diagnosis, at CORA Rehabilitation Clinic, the goal is the same: To educate patients on the cause of their particular condition, ways to self-manage it, and establishment of an individual treatment plan.
Jeff Jacob is a doctor of physical therapy and clinic manager at CORA. He joins occupational therapist Jodie Sarginson; physical therapist Elena Hopkins; and assistant patient service coordinator Pam Williamson, to complete a helpful staff.
CORA, which opened in Brandon Township in 2003, accepts patients of all ages from 0-99. The staff helps patients recover from or manage a variety of conditions, including fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tennis elbow, cerebral palsy, and Parkinson’s Disease. They assist post-stroke patients as well as those who have had orthopedic surgery.
‘We are for people with aches and pains,? Jacob says. ‘Anything from pain in the foot to pain in the neck, decreased endurance, stiffness, and weakness.?
Treatment for conditions vary from stretching, manual techniques, exercises and progression to a home program to use of modalities, including ultrasound, paraffin, and electrical stimulation.
‘We emphasize one-on-one care and we believe in hands-on healing,? says Jacob. ‘We employ only licensed therapists and assistants and do our best at using education, manual therapy and a hands-on approach to progress our patients to independence with home management of their conditions.?
A new maintenance program offered by CORA concentrates on managing ‘work in progress? conditions such as arthritis. For only $25 per month, patients can use the gym and facilities at CORA independently and fine tune without insurance involvement. The goal is to get maximum long-term outcomes in the remodeled clinic.
CORA staff will evaluate a patient with a physician’s referral.
Jacob enjoys his job for the interaction it brings with so many different people, as well as the challenge each patient presents, as no one diagnosis is ever treated the same as another. He likes CORA’s Ortonville location, too.
‘I like the smaller community and getting to know the people and their families,? he says. ‘Everyone is personable.?
Just like the staff at CORA.
