D-Arcy Gozales was named the interim trustee for Orion Township board at the June 18 meeting.
After the resignation of former Trustee Mark Crane the board interviewed three other candidates along with Gonzales, which included Heather Muzzy, Dale Romeo, and Donni Steele. Steele is the only candidate who is on the ballot in Aug. However, the board voted 6-1 in favor of Gonzales. Trustee Mike Flood Jr. voted ‘no.?
Gonzales has been in the community for 32 years and involved in numerous different things. When his kids were young he was involved in the Orion/Oxford Soccer Leauge, as well as sat on the school board for eight years. He is also the Chairman of the Road Commission Retirement System and Vice Chairman of the Oakland County Retirement System.
He also worked over 35 years for JP Morgan Chase and in his last 14 years prior to retirement dealt with all the municipalities in Oakland County including 61 townships and villages, 29 school districts, as well as the courts and county complex.
‘I was approached to run for the four year term, but I said ‘no my wife and I are both retired,? Gonzales said. ‘But this five month period I am willing to give back and I feel I can contribute on the budget with my financial background.?
