Those wishing to apply for the Oxford school board seat being vacated by Sue Tombrella have until June 3 to apply.
Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and a resident of the Oxford school district which encompasses portions of Oxford, Addison, Brandon, Metamora, Dryden and Hadley townships.
A letter of intent must be submitted to Superintendent Dr. William Skilling, 105 Pontiac St., Oxford, MI 48371.
Upon receipt of the letter, an application will be provided to the interested party. A copy of this application is also available at www.oxfordschools.org.
The deadline for submitting the applications is 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 3.
All candidates will be publicly interviewed during a special school board meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 15 at the district’s central office on Pontiac St. Tombrella’s resignation is effective Saturday, June 13.
Whomever is appointed will serve on the board until Dec. 31, 2009. Someone will be elected during the November 2009 election to fill the remainder of Tombrella’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2010.
