Two Lake Orion men were tracked down by police on Sept. 19, after Kroger employees at the Lapeer Road store saw them shoplift a case of beer.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office report, the employees got the license plate number, and deputies tracked it to a 20-year-old man from Lake Orion.
The man met with deputies a short time later, and admitted to the theft. He also identified the home of his 21-year-old friend as the place where the stolen beer was being kept.
The 21-year-old, who knew the beer was stolen, was cited for receiving and concealing stolen property.
The 20-year-old was cited for retail fraud and under 21 possession of alcohol.
The beer, minus seven cans that had been consumed, was returned to the store.
