DeWitt paces Brandon boys harriers at Linden Invite

The Brandon varsity boys cross country team finished in the upper half of teams at the Linden Invitational Saturday, Sept. 24.
The Blackhawks finished seventh out of 15 teams at the invite with 189 points. Fenton finished first with 54 points, while Flint Powers took second (64) and Linden third (91).
Trevor DeWitt led all Blackhawk runners, finishing 27th overall with a time of 17:42.8, a personal best time. Steve Sanday finished 36th (18:06.1), while Adam George finished 39th (18:13.8) and Nicola Grupido 40th (18:17.5).
Rounding out the Brandon varsity were Erik Edhe (51st, 18:39.5), Jared Blunk (53rd, 18:49) and Blake McLellan (67th, 19:28.9).
On Sept. 21, the Blackhawks split their Flint Metro League meet by defeating Holly 25-34 and losing to Fenton 42-15. Brandon is now 1-1 in league action.
DeWitt and Blunk led the Blackhawks, finishing seventh and ninth respectively in the 40-runner field. De Witt finished with a time of 18:46, while Blunk ran in 18:54.
Sanday (10th, 19:00) and George (11th, 19:03) were right behind for the Blackhawks. Other Brandon finishers were Grupido, Edhe and McLellan.
