The Lake Orion High School Student Council organized the traditional pep rally to kick off homecoming at the school on Oct. 8, as students showed their support for the varsity football team, as well as the other athletic teams competing for Lake Orion.
The varsity cheerleaders got the crowd pumped up, and the Lake Orion Dance Team performed as well as the Lake Orion Marching Band.
A ‘Fear Factor? contest, LOHS style, replaced the Sumo wrestling contest that has been held in year’s past.
The pep rally was followed by a homecoming parade on the streets of Downtown Lake Orion, and this year ‘boats? designed by the classes at LOHS took center stage instead of the usual floats. The boats went along with 2004 homecoming’s ‘pirate? theme.
The sophomore class won the boat contest, as well as the annual banner contest. LOHS graduate Jordan Desilets, who recently ran in the Olympic time trials, served as grand marshall of this year’s parade.
A little rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of LOHS students as they held their king/queen ceremony during the halftime of the varsity football game.
Senior Calli Long was named queen, and absent senior Kojo Asiedu, who was unable to take part in the ceremony due to being a member of the varsity football team, was represented by another student when he was named king.
