Dragon swimmers and divers swamped by Hawks

The Lake Orion Girls Swimming and Diving Team found themselves still searching for a win this season in OAA II after they were defeated 128.5-57.5 on Oct. 16 by the Troy Athens Red Hawks.
Athens (4-0) dominated the league matchup, taking top times in the 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle, one meter diving, 100 yard fly, 100 yard freestyle, and 500 yard freestyle. The Hawks were also winners of the 200 yard freestyle relay, the 100 yard backstroke, the 100 yard breaststroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The Dragons’ 200 yard medley relay team; freshman Nikki Dolan, sophomore Natalie Spisak, sophomore Perry Mitchell and sophomore Nathalie Cornet; finished first with a time of 2:06.05 against Athens.
Lake Orion’s Emily Roesch finished second in the 200 yard free, with a time of 2:08.52. Lizzie Galvan was first in the 200 yard IM, with a time of 2:30.53.
Spisak took third place in the 50 yard free (27.93), while Cornet followed close behind in fourth (28.42). Moniq Thompson had Lake Orion’s best finish in the diving competition, in fourth place with 123.8.
Galvan took a second place finish in the 100 yard fly (1:08.58), as Spisak finished third in the 100 yard free (1:00.91). In the 500 yard free, Roesch finished second (5:48.17).
The Lake Orion 200 yard free relay team of Spisak, Galvan, Cornet and Roesch were second (1:51.23), and Mitchell pulled out a second place finish in the 100 yard back (1:06.83).
Amanda Halliday finished third (1:26.07) for the Dragons in the 100 yard breast, while Morgan Cook was fifth and Abbey Bartoni was sixth. Finally, the Lake Orion 400 yard free relay team of Mitchell, Galvan, Dolan and Roesch came in third (4:09.18).
The Dragons will look for their first win against West Bloomfield on the road on Oct. 23.
The team travels to the OAA League Meet Nov. 5-8, before hosting the Orion Invitational at Lake Orion High School on Nov. 11.
