.- A completion phase to bring natural gas to the township will begin early next year.

John Foley, Consumers Energy project manager, said about 90 percent of township residents have natural gas available. Consumers Energy started the gas pipeline project in two phases in 2013. Phase one of the township gas line project was for customers west of M-15 while phase two east of M-15 started in 2014 was completed later that same year.

Beginning next year Consumers gas line will be expanded along M-15 from Hill Road north to Maple Road, adding about 14 homes; Green Road between Washburn Road and Henderson Road adding 27 customers. In Hadley Township, along Hegel Road from Gregory west to Bittersweet Lane, about two miles adding about 46 residents.

“Right now we are at about 50 percent participation,” said Foley. “With the exception of a few streets, any home in the township can have natural gas.”
