Charles Fortinberry, a sophomore at Northwood University and the son of Charles and the Honorable Dana Fortinberry of Clarkston, participated in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit as an intern from Jan. 7 – 13.
Fortinberry spent time greeting the media, handing out press kits, serving a golf cart chauffeur and working in the warehouse.
Students were chosen to participate by the NAIAS executive board from information given in the student’s written application form. All students were asked to attach a resume including honors and activities they are involved in and to share their personal goals. They were also asked to explain why they should be picked to intern at the show.
This is a learning experience Fortinberry will bring back to Northwood University’s own International Auto Show set for Oct. 6, 7, and 8.
The show is known as ‘North America’s largest outdoor auto show.? Students handle the cars, plan the logistics, negotiate with dealers, arrange advertising, provide hospitality services, work with the media and ensure everyone has a positive experience.
