Hart Community Center in Davisburg hosts Young At Heart Active Adults Group, Thursdays, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
‘It’s a chance to come together ? there’s lots of camaraderie. People love it,? said Sarah Richmond, senior coordinator and administrative assistant for Springfield Township Parks and Recreation.
The group offers lunch, guest speakers, musical performances, field trips, holiday parties, movies, bingo, games and other activities every week for adults 50 years old and older, as well as individuals with disabilities, Richmond said.
‘Lunches are home cooked ? they are delicious,? she said. ‘It’s really neat.?
‘I enjoy it, seeing people every week, and the food of course,? said Lucille Krouse, 97, who has been a member of the group since it started, originally meeting at the Oakland County fairgrounds.
‘It’s nice to get out and have lunch with nice ladies and gentlemen, and meet different people,? said Evelyn Combs of Holly, a member for the past 6-7 years.
Yearly $5 membership includes six newsletters per year. Regularly weekly lunches are $4 per person, special and holiday lunches, $5. Non-members are welcome to attend as well.
