Whether they’ve been naughty or nice, every child deserves a present for Christmas.
In fact, there’s nothing sadder than the thought of an empty stocking or a Christmas tree with no gifts beneath it.
That’s why the Oxford Meijer and Oakland County Credit Union teamed up with police, firefighters and military personnel to give a bunch of local children a truly fantastic Christmas through the Third Annual ‘Shop with a Hero? event held Dec. 8.
A total of 74 kids from Oxford, Orion and Brandon got to go on a shopping spree at the Oxford Meijer.
Each child received $150 to spend anyway they wanted. They could buy toys and clothes for themselves and their loved ones.
The kids were accompanied by officers from the Oxford and Lake Orion village police departments and Oakland County Sheriff’s Department; firefighters from Oxford, Orion, Brandon and Detroit; and by Michigan Army National Guardsmen from the 1775th Military Police Company in Pontiac.
In addition to the $150, each child received a free pizza from the Meijer deli to share with their families.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He dwells in all of our hearts, just waiting for an opportunity to reveal himself. ? CJC
