You lose some, you win some ? at least that’s how it was for the Oxford varsity boys basketball team last week.
The boys lost to Stoney Creek 61-56 in an exciting match-up on Tuesday, January 15. Conner Elzerman forced the game into overtime after scoring a three-pointer to tie the game 50-50 with 17 seconds left.
Unfortunately even after gaining a four-point lead in the overtime, turnovers and miss contested shots cost them the game.
‘The key to the game was our 29 turn-over and offensive rebounds we gave up late,? said Coach Paul Marfia. ‘I was proud of some things we did and our toughness to get to OT and even get the lead, but we did not value the basketball. We need to value the basketball in order to win these games.?
The boys must of heeded their coach’s device as they went into Hazel Park on Friday, January 18 and won 50 to 42 bringing their season record to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the OAA White Division.
