Lady Cats use speed to pressure opponents

The Oxford girls varsity basketball team might become known as the running Wildcats under Coach Stephen Emert.
The Lady Cats finished second last season in the OAA White Division and Emert said his team will maintain an up-tempo game that will always pressure the opponent.
He has the athletes to do it.
The team will be led by senior Shelby Davis, who is coming off an excellent season last year in which she averaged 12 points and nine rebounds per game. She will play at guard and forward.
Fellow senior Miranda Murphy is expected to average about 12 points and eight rebounds per game.
Both girls give the team a nice one-two punch.
Rounding out the starters are expected to be seniors Megan Neff and Chelsea Harrison along with sophomore Cherilyn Banas, who will play guard.
Coming off the bench and expected to see significant playing time are Samantha Medici, Kimberly Sellers and Jessica Murphy. There are six seniors who will help lead the team but Emert said he will also rely on his juniors and sophomores in important roles.
‘Our style is an up-tempo style and we like to put pressure on the other teams,? Emert said. ‘We have had scrimmages and we have some things to work on. We will get better. It will be an exciting team.?
